Day 35 – Stuff and Stuffed

Artwork from St. Mark’s Palm Sunday bulletin

At this point of whittling down the stuff of my mother’s life, a larger percentage is treasures. It feels like I am beginning to see her bones. I am doing everything I can not to expose mine.

Lord, have mercy.

Mon Apr 11, Isaiah 42:1-9, Psalm 36:5-11 (7), Hebrews 9:11-15, John 12:1-11

Day 34 – Our Festival

Our wedding was 39 years ago today. We invited our friends and family from Virginia and Michigan and Seattle and beyond. We gathered at Fort Worden State Park near Port Townsend for a long weekend of festivities. It was glorious. Spring weather, all kinds of it. Just like our marriage. It’s been glorious too.

Readings

Sat – Apr 9, Leviticus 23:1-8 Luke 22:1-13 Psalm 31:9-16

Day 33 – Covenant of Peace

Back-to-back Taizé service then choir rehearsal prepared me for lunch with my friend and her grief. I found myself singing “Nada te turbe” then “When Jesus Wept” to myself over and over again. Such peace.

Readings

Fri – Apr 8, Isaiah 54:9-10 Hebrews 2:10-18 Psalm 31:9-16

Day 31 – About Psalm 20

I know that when God grants my heart’s desire, and fulfills all my plans and petitions, it will be because I am praying God’s Desire. Thus “Thy will be done” is the epitome.

When I lean into the conviction that all is good…that as they say, the moral arc of the universe is long but bends toward justice…that Creator really does love us unconditionally…  Then I recognize that all will turn to the desire for wholeness.

All Will Be Well.
